Reporting To: Equipment Engineer / Senior Equipment Engineer / Equipment Engineering Manager
Role Summary:
- Support equipment start-up, operation, maintenance, and sustainment in an OSAT manufacturing environment.
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting, PLC maintenance, and preventive & predictive maintenance.
- Ensure stable equipment performance across NPI, ramp-up, and steady-state production.
- Apply basic quality principles and support operator-level training.
- Operate in compliance with IATF 16949, ISO, and OSHA / EHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Start-Up & Operation
- Perform equipment start-up, line bring-up, and recovery after shutdowns or maintenance.
- Verify equipment readiness, utilities, safety interlocks, and sequence stability.
- Support operators during production without unauthorized parameter or program changes.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance per defined standards.
- Inspect mechanical, electrical, and sensor systems; replace consumables and wear parts.
- Monitor alarms, logs, and trends to support predictive maintenance.
Troubleshooting & Corrective Maintenance
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, vision, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Isolate faults, identify root causes, and execute corrective actions.
- Escalate complex or chronic issues with clear technical findings.
- Monitor PLC I/O, alarms, sequences, and safety circuits.
- Troubleshoot sensors, actuators, and interlocks.
- Read and interpret PLC ladder logic, electrical schematics, wiring, and pneumatic diagrams.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Apply basic quality know-how and understand equipment impact on product quality.
- Follow SOPs, work instructions, and change control requirements.
- Comply with LOTO, ESD, cleanroom protocols, ISO, IATF 16949, and OSHA / EHS standards.
- Support internal and external audits.
Documentation & Systems
- Maintain accurate records for start-up checks, PM, downtime, and parts usage.
- Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for reporting, shift handover, and training support.
Training & Cross-Functional Support
- Support basic training for operators and junior technicians.
- Work closely with Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing, Process, Quality, and Facilities teams.
- Support NPI tool readiness, qualification, line recovery, and continuous improvement.
Equipment / Process Exposure
- Die Attach, Wire Bond, Stacked-Die, COB, Flip Chip
- Mold / Compression Mold, Tin Plating, Singulation
- Optical Inspection systems (2nd OI, 3rd OI, FVI)
- Conventional, automotive, and advanced semiconductor packages
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Equipment uptime and recovery effectiveness
- Preventive maintenance compliance
- Troubleshooting effectiveness and repeat failure reduction.
- PLC fault resolution efficiency
- Documentation accuracy and audit readiness

Qualifications
Education: Technical Diploma / ITI / Vocational Certification in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Industrial Automation.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing.
Required experience in:
- Equipment start-up and recovery.
- In-depth troubleshooting
- Ability to read schematic diagrams and PLC logic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint PLC-controlled equipment
- Preventive and predictive maintenance
OSAT assembly experience preferred.
Role Level
- Classified as Equipment Technician.
- Growth path to Senior / Lead Equipment Technician based on independence, troubleshooting depth, PLC capability, training contribution, and impact to reliability and NPI readiness.
